MORNING METEOROLOGIST

National Headline Morning Meteorologist 

Updating critical weather information for the entire United States and Caribbean in the following manner:

• Deliver life-saving weather information on a daily basis for 6 hours to a total audience reach of over 300 million households

• Lead my team during detailed forecast analysis and discussion of national weather prediction models to deliver top weather headlines for the United States, daily

• Evaluate weather prediction models to present daily forecasts to all of the Caribbean islands and update critical information during tropical development

• Establish, guide and create graphic production in order to accurately illustration and communicate a weather event to my audiences

• Prepare, analyze and assist during severe weather including, but not limited to, tornadoes, winter storms, hurricanes, dangerous heat, and all other extreme weather phenomena

• Contribute to web articles and company social media profiles with content pertinent to weather information/updates

EVENING METEOROLOGIST

WSAZ-TV

NBC and CW affiliated news station's Evening Meteorologist for 4 PM, 5:30 PM, 10 PM 
• Recorded daily radio and webcast forecasts

• Analyzed short range, long range and current NWP models to establish the forecast 

• Built and constructed visual graphics to easily and clearly reflect the information predicted

• Participated in topical segments during the 4 pm newscast to communicate important topics to our audience including but not limited to community interviews and science advancements

• Utilized social media to promote daily and severe weather updates

• Constructed closed captioning

• Participated in mandatory and volunteer community outreach programs, as well as conducted school talks for all ages

WEEKEND METEOROLOGIST

WBBJ-TV

ABC and CBS affiliated news station's weekend meteorologist and weekday multimedia journalist.


•Formulated a forecast by analyzing and reviewing numerical weather prediction models and data

• Created weather graphics to add to animation to the weather story

• Presented the forecast during weekend evening newscasts 

• Promoted the forecast and additional weather information on the station’s website as well as all social media accounts

• Wrote closed captioning for the weathercasts within each show

• Assisted chief during severe weather

• Fill in for all meteorologist shifts as needed

Update a weather forecast thrice daily by following guidelines required to ensure accuracy for the broadcast.

Red Cross

A collaboration internship with Purdue's VACCINE center, the American Red Cross, and Purdue professors Megan Sap-Nelson, and Tim Filley and Mike Baldwin to investigate the efficacy of a tool developed by the by the Visual Analytics for Command, Control and Interoperability Environments that track, analyze, and monitor social media feeds to pinpoint disaster-caused damage in real time.

The goal was to ultimately help first-responders and relief agencies gain situational awareness immediately after a disaster or crisis with an emphasis on the analysis of data from severs storms in the Midwest and Great Plains. A code and an algorithm was created to automatically overlay social media content to the severe storm polygons issued during an event.

-Reviewed weather models with meteorologist to determine forecast
